Buses are the best option to reach Milano city centre; they stop just in front of the airport and at one side of the main milano train station (from where you can take the metro and other public transports). Bus drivers sell tickets; don't buy the ticket in advance, so you can take the bus which leave first.
I suggested some friend "ostello la cordata". It's an hostel with there is some private room; it's not so elegant, but clean and very centrally located.

Taxes to/from airport are quite expensive.
Bus to Bergamo train to Milano takes longer.
When in Milano?
